Jordan's Art Gallery

We are so proud of Jordan. We got a letter in the mail yesterday from the art teacher at her school. Some of Jordan's art work is going to be displayed at the school district's art festival during the month of March. Her's was one of 50 art pieces from her school chosen to be displayed. She attends a school of almost 900 kindergarten through 3rd graders. We feel like this is such a great accomplishment!! The funny part is that she can't remember which of her pieces is going to be displayed! Oh, well...it will be a nice surprise to see it next week. We were invited to attend an Artist's Reception next Thursday evening. So here's just a little sampling of some of the things she has brought home from her art class. Enjoy!!!

A Whole Bunch of Random

So, I don't have anything to post about. It's the dead of winter, the middle of the semester, and we have done nothing all that exciting. So here's some random stuff...hopefully you will enjoy getting another glimpse into the lives of the "crazy" Bohannons!!

~1 We played tea party 3 times this weekend with Jordan. The first time, it was just me and the kids. Jordan was the waitress, taking our order and Jaron ordered the funniest dessert I have ever heard of. He ordered "chocolate CHUMP cake". Jordan and I died laughing! He pretended it made him mad, and he said, "I said chocolate CHIMP cake!" I think he was trying to say chocolate chip cake, but he never said it right...it was so hilarious!

~2 At our first tea party I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and a salad with Italian dressing, or "alltaliun" dressing as Jordan wrote :)

~3 Chris gives me whiplash when he drives :) :)

~4 At church each Sunday they announce that the Friday night service is for young people 30 years and younger. EVERY week, Chris cuts his eyes at me and grins. You wanna know why? Because I can't go to that service since I am 31!!!!! And he still can because he is 29!!!! GGGGRRRRR!!!!!

~5 The last two new episodes of The Office have been so funny. I get the biggest kick out of Dwight and Jim. They are so silly...they are the new party planners for the office. Dwight got gray, black and brown balloons for a birthday party because it matched the carpet. Oh, just thinking about it makes me laugh out loud!

~6 I like going to the Farmer's Market.

~7 We are getting closer and closer to Spring Break, which means we get to go back to Lubbock to see everyone. We can't wait!

Valentine's Weekend

Since Jordan had Friday off from school, Chris took the day off, too. We had several things planned for the day, the most important being ice skating. Jordan has been talking about ice skating for weeks now, (since we went to Rockefeller Center at Christmas time) so we all took a deep breath and hit the ice! I used to roller skate every weekend in junior high (WOW...memories), but I have always heard ice skating is much different than roller skating. It was actually alot easier than I thought it would be. And Jordan took to it really well. After a while she moved away from the wall and was gliding a little. Jaron, on the other hand took a little convincing, but after a while he resigned himself to the fact that he was having fun!!






What a shot, huh? Chris caught this in mid-fall! I don't know how he did it! I told Jordan to not worry because everyone falls when they learn to ice skate. Pretty soon after that I had to skate over to her and show her where I had landed right on my bum, and I had a bunch of slushy ice on my jeans to prove it. Some kid came flying out of no where and scared me to death! I just lost my balance!!





The only reason I have included this video is so Candace and Wes can have another reason to laugh at me :)

Winter Blues.......

The weather has been crazy lately. Last week we still had snow on the ground. Yesterday it was in the upper 60s for the high, and today was reminiscent of a West Texas dust storm, minus the dust. It was so stinking windy! Our power even went out for a while. Anyway, Jordan has a nice long weekend ahead of her. She got out of school today at 1:00. I wanted Jaron and her to have fun, so I stole an idea I saw on someone else's blog. (Thanks for the link, Alissa) I squirted a pile of Chris's shaving cream on a cookie sheet and turned the kids loose. I know you are probably thinking I am crazy, but it was really fun! And it cleans up so easily. Our apartment was a wreck anyway, so I thought one more mess wouldn't be that big of a deal.



After all of that, Jordan sat down to practice her piano lesson for the week. Jaron sat by very impatiently, waiting for her to finish so they could play boxing with their new stuffed animals from Grandad and Dee Dee. (Jaron's gorilla has boxing gloves, fyi.)
He is such a funny little guy. He loves my tuning fork, and he has started using it as a metronome when Jordan practices. Here he is making a "chick, chick" sound and ticking it back and forth! What will he come up with next?!


Just in case you were wondering, they both got in trouble after this. Jaron kept touching the keys on the piano, and Jordan screamed at him. After a brief time-out on their beds, they had a little scavenger hunt in their room. We had a fun afternoon!!

Tales from the Life of a Preschooler

I just have to share this funny little story with everyone. Yesterday Chris and I went to pick up Jaron from his Children's Church class. I just love his teacher. She is so cute and sweet and really seems to make an effort to be a good teacher to a bunch of silly preschoolers! So when we got there, all the kids were in the other room, except for one little girl. In my mind I just assumed she was in trouble. She was sitting in the front room by herself with one of the helpers. Jaron's teacher said, "Say bye to Jaron!", and all 40 or so of the kids responded in a most enthusiastic unison, "BYE JARON!" So cute!! He was showing me the picture he colored when the little girl who was in trouble started to tell him goodbye. She was not going to stop until he acknowledged her!! Jaron said good-bye in his I-am-busy way, and we headed out the door. There he proceeded to tell us that she was in trouble because she choked him! But she was still so adamant about telling him good-bye!! Oh man, we would love to know the reason she choked him in the first place. It could never be that he was pestering her in any way like he never pesters his sister, or any of the rest of us for that matter!!!!!

Winter Wonderland

We got 5 inches of snow yesterday...Philadelphia got 8! It snowed all day long, seriously. It did not stop until later in the evening. So this morning we woke up to a winter wonderland of snow. It was absolutely gorgeous. The sky was clear blue, and the sun was up, making all of the soft, powdery snow look like glittery sugar. I wanted so bad to just lick the bushes at the bus stop!!! Jordan DID lick the bushes at the bus stop! If we were skiing, it would have been perfect snow. I was so thankful to see such a beautiful sight this morning. It is amazing to me how much snow can pile up on the skinny branches of the trees. I think some of the them had two or three inches of snow. After school, Jordan wanted to play in the snow. I was all for it. We had to pry Jaron away from his beloved toys, but he had fun too. We even made a make-shift sled out of Jaron's Tonka truck and Jordan's princess jump rope. They tried to pull me in the sled, but it didn't work so well. It was great fun, and I am so glad we got to play in the snow today!




By the way, we have a snowball living in our freezer. Chris put it there yesterday to save it!? The kids check on it every few minutes :) And I did buy them some water proof gloves (Chris was mortified that I used plastic bags...I was trying to be thrifty and think "green"). But Jaron still had to use Jordan's pink rain boots. However, he didn't care. He pretended to be Ironman!!!!!

Party Time!

One of the libraries in our county library system held a party for the author of the Max and Ruby books, Rosemary Wells. She has written many, many wonderful, cute and funny books for children. Her Max and Ruby books were the inspiration for a Max and Ruby show on Nick Junior. Little Mr. Jaron LOVES Max and Ruby...mostly Max. And here's why. Jaron thinks he is Max. Max is the pesky brother of Ruby, who is constantly trying to reform his boy-ish behavior. He is silly and funny and creative, just like Jaron!
When I saw that Max would be a guest at the party, I HAD to sign Jaron up to go. I am so glad I did...he had such a wonderful time!! He was so excited! We wish Emily could have gone with us too :)
After meeting Max, we had a little snack. Jaron is really enjoying his Dunkin Donuts powdered sugar munchkins.
And then it was craft time. It's a good thing I took this picture...by the time we got out to the car Jaron had taken everything off of the plate. He wanted to hold just Max!!!
School was cancelled on Wednesday. We made a mini-snowman in our backyard. Jaron is wearing Jordan's pink rain boots because he doesn't have any boots, and I tied plastic bags around their hands since we don't have waterproof gloves........I know you probably think that's really funny, but it worked like a charm!!!!
