The End of a Perfect Day

Well, the kids are tucked tightly in bed.............FINALLY! I can't tell you how many times I had to ask Jordan to brush her teeth. A thousand, it feels like! Then we had to read. It always take a while; however, that is one of my favorite times of the day. We snuggle up in Jordan's bed and read about Spiderman, bugs, ballerinas, princesses, Max and Ruby, and Halloween (Jaron can't go to the library without checking out a Halloween book!) Tonight our Bible story was about Moses and the burning bush. It's amazing how a simple children's story can remind me of God's vast love and power. Last night, Jaron wanted me to pray for his Spiderman doll. This doll is almost as tall as Jaron and he sleeps next to Jaron, tucked in as well. After I prayed for Spiderman, Jaron asked me if Jesus would take him AND Spiderman to heaven. I said, "Of course!". And I believe Jesus was touched by that little question!!!! Those kids crack me up!

So why is this the end of a perfect day? Well, it was just a good day! Jordan went to school, Jaron and I went to Walmart. We played with Harry and Ron. Then we picked up Jordan. After that we walked across the parking lot to building 15. (We live in building 16). We went to Jordan's friend's apartment. His name is Subhasish. We found out last week that he lives so close to us. I visited with his mother out on the parking lot and she invited us to come over some time. Jordan hounded me all weekend to call her. I told her I would call on Monday. Monday came and went and I realized that night that I had forgotten to call Dipika. Jordan of course reminded me first thing Tuesday that I was supposed to call. So I did. When we went to their apartment this afternoon, Dipika told me Subhasish was literally counting down the days on the calendar until Jordan would get to come over!!! How sweet is that? He also chose her to help him go to the cafeteria and get the milk for snack time today. And he told her that he had a surprise waiting for her. Guess what is was? A pink Barbie watch!!!!!!!! They had so much fun. We got there at 4:00 and before any of us knew it, it was already after 6:00!!!! Can I be honest? Dipika and her family are unlike any friends we have ever had. They are from India, and she has an extremely thick accent. They have only lived in the United States since 2000, and they even go back to India for long periods of time to visit their family. Their culture is completely different than what I have grown up knowing. But they invited us into their home and made us feel like we were a part of their family. It was such a pleasant, enjoyable experience, and I know we will have many more. I am thankful that God never ceases to surprise us! I am thankful that He knows what is best for us. I am thankful that He reveals Himself to me through little children's stories and new friends that I didn't expect to have. This day may not have been perfect in some people's eyes, but in God's eyes it was perfect because new relationships were forged, and the love of Jesus was shared over a cup of authentic Indian tea!!

I Left the Best for Last

This is the view of the Master Bedroom when you walk in the door. Our "homage to Texas" bathroom is to the left.
This is the view from the bed. Our armoir hides the TV and Playstation 2.
This is my great-grandmother's sewing machine. It's a Singer and still in working condition, I believe. My grandmother painted the pictures hanging on the wall.
And finally, the dresser, window and nightstand. All functional, but still attractive, don't you think?

Just kidding!!!! Although, I really do like our room. It is cozy! The wicker furniture, the kid's books shelves and toy boxes, and the piano were they only things we brought with us from "far West Texas", as Papa would say!!!! I have always liked this wicker furniture, and I got us a new feux suede comforter to go on the bed. Chris also bought a new mattress set before the kids and I moved here. It is a pillow top with memory foam. It is very comfortable.

Hopefully you have enjoyed the tour of our small, but cozy apartment. We like it very much, and it is definitely easier to keep clean than a house!!!

Drumroll Please............

Harry and Ron Bohannon
Isn't Harry pretty? And yes, he really does have red eyes!
Ron is the little stinker out of the two!
Jordan planted a flower garden today. They are Teddy Bear Sunflowers and Zenias.
Look at those sweet babies! They wanted to take a little walk and check the mail with me.

We are very proud to present our newest family members!! They are Harry and Ron, the guinea pigs!!!!! Harry likes to chew on jewelry and nibble our fingers. Ron likes to eat carrots out of our hands. They like to play chase in their cage, and they both LOVE to have their tummies rubbed! They squeeeeeaaaaaaakkkkkk for pleasure!!!!

Two Thumbs Up

We are movie junkies. There...............I admitted it, and I don't feel guilty about it. We do other things besides just watch movies!!! But we really enjoy our movies! So here is a list of some of the movies we have seen in the last couple of weeks and what we thought of them:

*Reign Over Me--very good, just wish they could have left out a few bad words, but a GREAT message. Adam Sandler has gained alot of respect in my book. He was wonderful in this movie...very well-acted, as was the part played by Don Cheadle.

*The Invasion--weird subject (aliens try to take over the world by vomiting on people) but it moves fast enough that it is interesting. The ending was terrible.

*Underdog--good kid-flick. 'Nuf said!

*No Reservations--cute. Catherine Zeta-Jones is so beautiful! Unfortunately, there were certain parts of the movie that I didn't not think were developed very well. Fortunately the little girl saved the movie (as children often do).

*Becoming Jane--one word.......BORING! I didn't even finish it!! I couldn't understand what they were saying because Anne Hathaway used a horrible English accent, and they spoke to fast.

*Spiderwick Chronicles--very good and entertaining. I took the kids to see it one Saturday afternoon at the theater, and they really enjoyed it. There was one part where Jordan got a little scared, but she liked the rest of the movie. Overall, very good. And I have heard the book is even better.

*Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium--wonderful!!!! It was very good! I didn't get to see the first few minutes because I was making lunch, but I thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of the movie. Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and Jason Bateman were great!!!!

Now, here's a list of movies that we want to see. They are either about to come out on video, still in the theater or due out later this year.

*August Rush
*The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian
*Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
*Fools Gold

Have you seen any of these? What are your favorites/recommendations?????

Also, don't forget to check out the Photo Albums!!(links on the right hand side of the blog)

Circle Time

Vivian, Jordan and Jaron playing "Simon Says".
Vivian and Jordan listening to the story; Jaron already distracted!
Vivian and Jordan singing "You Are My Sunshine".
Jaron acting out "You Are My Sunshine" somewhat reluctantly.
Craft Time!!! Jordan, Vivian and Vivian's mother Xioaqi doing their craft. Jordan and Jaron working together too!

Jordan has two favorite days: Tuesday and Friday. Tuesday because of story time at the library. Friday because of ballet class. One of her friends from school, Vivian, goes to story time, too. They are always so excited to see each other at the library, even though they get out of school just minutes before!!! Jaron enjoys story time too, but he gets frustrated if he can't see the pictures. Most of the time he does a really good job sitting and listening, but he does have a tendency to get a tad bit distracted!! Hope you enjoy the pictures!!!!!!!

P.S. I have really enjoyed the comments on the last two posts. I look forward to any and all comments!!! It's so good to hear from friends and family!

P.P.S. The verdict is in!!! I am proud to announce "The Office" is the winner! Who voted for CSI and Lost???????

The Bathrooms!!

The kids' bathroom. Note the firetruck night light...it's all we can afford at the Pottery Barn!!! It was $15!
The shower curtain and matching towels. Nana discovered that Dad's chalk portrait matched perfectly!
The master bath.
What state is this?!
I made the little flag and the jewelry hanger my self for less than $3! Michael's is one of my favorite places!!

I love our bathrooms! I got stuff to decorate at Walmart in Lubbock before we moved. We have never had matching stuff in our bathrooms. It's always just been an assortment of things. Candace inspired me with the kid's bathroom. She has the same stuff for her kids, but her point was that they will not outgrow it. And guests can still enjoy it and not feel like it is just to "kiddy". And the master bathroom is an homage to Texas. BTW, the New Jersey flag can't hold a candle to the Texas flag. The Texas flag rocks!!!!!! It's really fun going into a neat bathroom! Now if I could just keep them clean!!!!!!!!

Don't forget to vote on the poll. The Office, Lost and CSI are neck-to-neck right now. Somebody needs to break the tie!!!!!!!!
